“What should we wear?” is one of the most common questions we get before an engagement session. Here’s honest, practical advice.

Coordinate, Don’t Match
You don’t need to wear identical outfits — matching colour palettes usually look more natural than matching outfits exactly. Stick to complementary tones rather than head-to-toe coordination.
Consider Your Location
Outdoor, nature-based locations tend to work best with softer, earthy tones. Urban or downtown settings can handle bolder colours and more structured outfits. If we’re shooting in multiple locations, bringing a second outfit is a great way to add variety.
Comfort Matters More Than You’d Think
Engagement sessions usually involve walking, sitting, and moving around for an hour or more. Choose something you can move comfortably in — nothing photographs worse than visible discomfort.
Avoid Busy Patterns
Small logos, tight stripes, and busy patterns can be distracting in photos. Solid colours and simple textures tend to age better and keep the focus on you, not your outfit.
